And that is only the beginning of funny and ironical happenings and misfortunes, which follow Elvis and his friend on the way to Cape Town, where the first one should reunite with his bride. The journey of these two turns into a really big adventure, both comic and fascinating.

A good friend of Bill, who is a high school principal, offers the former coach to train the girl’s team. Bill takes the offer to see, that the team he has to coach presents rather a sorry spectacle. The girls are unmotivated, alienated and mostly have no idea how to work as a team and how to play at all. Bill is not inspired either by his new position or by the girls, and they pay him the same.
But day by day the new coach together with his assistant Donna tries to motivate his unruly pupils and make them work as a team. Little by little Bill finds a contact with the girls and they achieve some encouraging results. And while the team improves, Bill also receives some lessons of how to bridge a gulf between him and his daughter.  The winning season is coming, and everything seems to be possible, if you work hard… Would it be successful for Bill and the team? The question is, would this night of freedom be a good remedy to restore the sexual relations of the couple? Or would it be rather a disappointment? Or would it make a small problem bigger? The film answers these questions.
“The Freebie” is a directorial debut of Katie Aselton, who also stars in the role of Annie in the film. This is an independent comedy, which offers a curious and humorous picture of love and relations between people, who try to sustain them at any price… Darren is played by Dax Shepard.

Upon arrival Bill Kincaid reunites with his mother, a very eccentric woman, played by Susan Sarandon. Besides he meets a charming and educated young lady (performed by Keri Russell), who has preferred a gentler life of Oklahoma to academia society.
Little by little Bill gets caught up in a criminal world of drug business and involved into his brother’s affairs. The professor has to do impossible to help his brother to get off the conflict with a local drug lord and his gang. Taking into account the fact, that the knowledge of Marcus Aurelius and Plato has prepared Bill to an absolutely different kind of activity, he has only a slightest idea of how to act in such a situation...
The film from Tim Blake Nelson blends comedy, classical philosophy, crime drama and violence.

Genteel Romain Duris, starring in the title role, skillfully portrays French professional Casanova called Alex, who is engaged in a business of his own. This is a rather specific job, he does. His clients are jealous lovers, envious friends, or the families, anxious about their children’s dating. The task of Alex in these cases is to break up the unfavorable or undesirable relationships. He is not alone in this sort of business: the sister of Alex, Melanie, helps her brother to break up couples. But both have certain principles in their work. They do not interfere in the lives of happy partners, breaking up only the unhappy ones.
Nevertheless, the last work of Alex stands against their principles. The business is slow, and he is ears in debt. Hired by wealthy M. Van Der Bercq, he has to destroy his daughter’s happy relations with her boyfriend. According to his client’s desire, Don Juan has only one week to keep charming Juliette, played by Vanessa Paradis, from marriage. But the thing is that Juliette is absolutely in love with her chosen one… The heartbreaker faces quite a serious problem to be solved asap…

Expecting Mary

The film, written and directed by Dan Gordon, is a story of Mary – a pregnant teenager of sixteen, who runaways from home. The girl sets off to California, where her dad lives. She thinks, he will understand her more than her uptight mother and stepfather, who insist on abortion. The reason is not financial; Mary’s family is wealthy enough to maintain twenty mouths, as she says. But the public opinion seems to bother Mary’s parents much more, than their daughter and her future child.
Picked up by a kind trucker Horace, the eight months pregnant girl tells him her sad story, and he offers her to visit a casino in New Mexico, where his girlfriend Darnella performs as a showgirl. After that Mary stays for a while in a trailer park, where Darnella lives, among very eccentric personalities.
Mary’s journey becomes a starting point to adult life. On the way to California, where she hopes to find a shelter and her father’s support, the girl gets acquainted with the true meaning of such notions as love, family and sacrifice.
The cast of the film includes Olesya Rulin, Cybill Shepherd, Elliott Gould, Lainie Kazan, Linda Gray, Della Reese and Cloris Leachman. “Expecting Mary” is a perfect film for a family viewing.
