The outstanding comedy and musical, “The Concert” is a new work directed by acclaimed filmmaker Radu Mihaileanu. Mihaileanu is known to the audience by his film “Live and Become”. At the center of the plot is a former conductor of the Bolshoi Theater called Andrei Filipov. After a failure of his career, Filipov works as a simple custodian, suffers from a severe depression and drinks a lot.
But one day everything changes in his meaningless existence. Filipov gets to know, that the Châtelet Theater, situated in Paris, invites the Bolshoi Orchestra.
He intercepts the invitation, destined to the current orchestra, and gathers his own team, consisted from former musicians of any kind. Having declared himself as their leader and prominent conductor, Filipov decides to try his fortune. His biggest dream is to return to the Bolshoi as a great Russian conductor, and he couldn’t neglect such an opportunity.
A young and promising violin virtuoso, Anne-Marie is also at his side. She keeps his secret and she inspires him to do everything possible on the way to world-wide fame and triumph. Starring in the film are Alexei Guskov and Mélanie Laurent. “The Concert” by Mihaileanu promises to be one of the funniest films of the year.
