Several stories intertwine and affect each other in a magical way in the romantic comedy from filmmakers Tony Chan and Wing Shya. The events of the film take place in Hong Kong during record hot summer days. Several narratives, each is exclusive and remarkable as their personages, are set against the background of agonizing heat. The extreme weather makes the entire city fall into emotional chaos, and it tests the fates of the characters in different ways.
Imagine a sudden romance between a foot masseuse and a driver, who start their communication via sms messages, knowing nothing about the identities of each other. Or a blind photographer, looking for a model he has insulted once. Or an enthusiastic young man, infatuated with a factory girl so much, that agrees to prove his love by standing in the sun outside the factory for hundred days. Or a sushi chef experimenting over his meal to please and satisfy the taste of a food critic and so on...
As the stories interlock, we get what is called a very curious thematic cocktail of different romantic scenarios, both funny and thoughtful…
“Hot Summer Days” stars Nicholas Tse, Rene Liu, Jacky Cheung, Barbie Hsu, Vivian Hsu and the others. The film scenario is written by Tony Chan.
