In New York there lives simple citizen Arthur Poppington, slightly cranky, but with inordinately developed idealism. He decides that he must root out all evil in this world. Mr. Poppington chooses to itself sonorous and proud name Defendor (at once it becomes clear that nobody did teach English at school) and not less proud rank - the super hero. Having put on already become traditional black leggings, gluing on a brawny breast similarity of an emblem «D» and applying "a professional" make-up in the form of a black mask, this new time the hero decides to be quit, first of all, with the most important criminal and - in combination - the drug dealer captain Indastri. With this hard mission help to him with selflessness his faithful companion - the prostitute (Kat Dennings) and the treating doctor-psychiatrist (Sandra Oh). As well as it is necessary, Defendor makes his noble mission only under a cover of the night...
Speaking fairly, «Defendor» is a good parody to events from comics’ films about all-powerful and ubiquitous super heroes on images of which the whole generation has grown. Probably, has come to laugh a little time over gravity of ideals of past years!

    Bass Ackwards

    Release Date: February 1st, 2010
    Director: Linas Phillips
    Writer: Linas Phillips
Starring: Linas Phillips, Davie-Blue, Jim Fletcher, Paul Lazar
    Studio: New Video
    Genre: Adventure, Comedy
    Runtime: 1 hour 33 minutes

«Bass Ackwards» was marked as innovative and original work in low-and-no-budget filmmaking on Official Selection in the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
Both film director and actor Linas Phillips has managed to turn a 20 page script into a bewitching story to remind us of the importance of finding something to be excited about, and having significant experiences in our lives.
The journey starts, as journeys often do, with an ending. Linas wants to change his life going on a trip in Volkswagen van named “Shorty” which Linas bought on impulse early on. Making his way eastward from Seattle to Brooklyn he meets a homeless man (Jim Fletcher) who joins Linas for traveling. The 10-day ride makes them acquainted with different people living on the edge, some rich, some hopeless, some ridiculous, and always real. So in the end we can’t disagree – the life is a road, the road is a life.
An especially wonderful instrumental underscore by Tara Jane O'Neil and Lori Goldston produces the right mood, helping the viewers feel the road's small pleasures with our heroes before their van finally goes upside-down.
