Directed by Alan Poul, the comedy “The Back-Up Plan” opens the theme of maternity, pregnancy, love and family relations.
Being on the edge of despair, Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) is a lonely woman in her 30, who has the only dream. The dream of most of the women, who have neither husband, nor children - is to become at least a mother. Zoe’s main goal is by any means to get a baby. She is seriously determined to become a mother and look after the baby and watch the first steps of her kid…
The same day of Zoe’s artificial impregnation, the woman meets Stan (Alex O’Loughlin), who could be her husband and the father of her baby, she dreamed of. The main heroin gets into a rather confusing situation. She tries to hide the fact of her pregnancy, but it couldn’t be hidden for long… Their relations grow strange, and soon Stan comes to a dead-end, as he can’t understand the behavior of his girlfriend.
Before long the fact of pregnancy becomes evident, and the couple understands, they don’t know each other. They have to study to perceive each other and prepare for the baby’s birth.
All events in the film are very comic, helping the viewer to think seriously of family and children, who should be born in love and mutual understanding between two people.
