Two lightkeepers, an old one and a young one, work together on Cape Cod, where the Eastham lighthouse is situated. It is the beginning of the 20th century, the shore is rather uninhabited and both the men are left themselves to their own resources. The old lightkeeper Seth Atkins is quite short of temper and therefore is difficult to deal with. The young one is a newcomer called John Brown. Besides they have a horse Joshua, who brightens up their life on the shore. They spend the most of their time in the lighthouse or nearby, trying to find a common language and come to mutual understanding. Free from any restrictions and rules, they call it as if not happiness at least the peace of mind.

But the appearance of two charming women, who moved into the summer cottage on the shore, changes their simple and quiet life absolutely.

The film was taken corresponding to the style of early 20th century, including the manner of speech, dress, behaviour and of course decorations. The viewer will find neither violence and excessive language nor nudity in “The Lightkeepers”. It is a beautiful and romantic story about relationships between people, casual encounter and love, promising much more than just a good timing.
